PC gamers apparently have a new Halo game to look forward to. The Korean game ratings board is listing a game called Halo Bootcamp for the PC.
Bootcamp, according to the listing spotted by GameFront, is a third-person shooter. There's also some mention of online play. The publisher is listed as Microsoft, so it's a legit Halo project.
"What's Bootcamp? It is not related to our Xbox One efforts, or the Reclaimer Saga, but rather a project we're very enthusiastic about and will have more to say about in the near future," a Microsoft rep told GameFront. The Reclaimer Saga is the new trilogy of Halo games that began with Halo 4.
Although Halo is largely an Xbox franchise, the first two games were ported to the PC as well. There hasn't been a Halo game released on that platform since 2004, though. I wonder what's changed?
Perhaps Microsoft is planning to dip their toes in the free-to-play market? The F2P market has exploded over the past few years. A free-to-play Halo has the name recognition to go toe-to-toe with games like Warface, Counter-Strike Online and Quake Live.
The Microsoft rep didn't mention whether Bootcamp will be coming to the West. It could be that, like Counter-Strike Online, the game's being targeted toward Asia.
