Ladies and gentlemen, please get used to this image. Filming has just begun on Jodie Foster's The Beaver, which stars Gibson as a man who goes about his life with a beaver puppet attached to his hand, treating it as if it is a living creature. Celeb Gossip has the photos from the set in upstate New York (via Movieline), and there you can behold pretty much all the strangeness anyone needs in a given day.

Ever since the project was announced we've been told over and over how excellent the script is, despite how bizarre the concept sounds. Maybe more of these set photos will help explain that, but right now, this just looks like that weird movie where Mel Gibson has a puppet on his hand.
