Jon Hamm Calls Kim Kardashian An Idiot, Do You Agree?

It’s no secret that a lot of people would rather watch, listen to and read about absurd drama than thoughtful discourse. That phenomenon has been around and critiqued for centuries. It’s reflected in the chasm between Oscars and box office grosses and Emmys and ratings. Now we can add Jon Hamm to the long list of celebrities that just don’t get it.

In a new interview with Elle UK that The Daily Mail was able to grab excerpts from, the Mad Men star comments on the public’s fascination with ignorance and cites Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian as examples of reality stars who have benefited from being stupid. You can take a look at the aggressive quote below…

'Whether it's Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a fucking idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you're rewarded significantly.

Behaving idiotically can be a valuable commodity. Being famous for essentially nothing is not only possible now, it can be highly profitable. Men and women with a specific personality types willing to play up their misbehavior can find great success. Stupidity is glorified, but whether or not Hilton and Kardashian are idiots for exploiting that is another question entirely.

I guess it all comes down to perspective. An optimist would say someone like Kim Kardashian might play stupid but clearly is not because she was able to translate one measly sex tape into a lucrative career. A pessimist however would say she behaved recklessly, came across at the perfect time and lucked out that Americans randomly enjoyed watching her bumble her way through life.

Where do you stand? Do you think Kim Kardashian is a fucking idiot? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
