Legends Of Tomorrow Just Cast Season 3's Newest Comic Book Superhero

Tala Ashe Smash NBC

With the way Season 2 ended, you had to know DC's Legends Of Tomorrow was going to need some new members to help fix the mess they made of Los Angeles. The series just cast Season 3's newest comic book superhero, and she sounds pretty damn awesome. Actress Tala Ashe (American Odyssey, Smash) will now be playing Zari Adrianna Tomaz on the superhero hit.

Tala Ashe has joined the DC Legends Of Tomorrow in the role of Muslim-American hero Zari Adrianna Tomaz. Variety tells us that Tomaz in Legends Of Tomorrow is living in the 30th century and working as a "grey hat hacktivist." For now, Tomaz is unaware of the awesome power that lays dormant inside of her, but I'm sure that will change. Tomaz is also described as a computer nerd, so it appears the team will have some extra brain power to work with in Season 3. And, if Tomaz manages to realize her powers, they'll have a lot more than that!

Adrianna Tomaz DC Comics

If you grew up in the mid '70s, you may be familiar with the origins of this hero, as Adrianna Tomaz was then "Andrea Thomas" in The Secrets of Isis or as one part of the live-action Shazam! power hour. Since then, the character has been given a comic book run, rebooted, and reintroduced as Adrianna Tomaz. Tomaz is an official part of the Shazam! family and, at one point, was married to iconic DC villain Black Adam.

When she invokes the powers of Isis, Adrianna Tomaz is an absolute tank of a meta that should make you very excited for Season 3 of Legends Of Tomorrow. Obviously, all this is subject to change as the character's history is a little more fluid than most, but full power Isis is like Superman with added elemental abilities. Like, even listing Superman as a peer is a little bit of an understatement, as Isis could be the strongest meta we've seen in any Arrow-verse series thus far. That's all provided she gains control of her abilities, which, according to her description, she doesn't seem to have control of yet.

Having a meta that powerful and unaware of her powers could be trouble for the Waverider crew, but it'll likely be pretty awesome for fans of Legends Of Tomorrow. Just the little bit I've read on the character has me hoping DC has big plans for Season 3 of the show, and that one day we see Isis fully realized on our television screens! If that happens, we should hope she doesn't break bad, because I don't think any hero we've seen is capable of stopping Isis. Speaking of which, Tomaz was not directly referred to as "Isis" in her description, so it could be possible The CW is looking to stay away from that name given the character's nationality and the political climate. Nothing has been said to indicate that, but with even irreverent shows like Archer backing away from that association, it wouldn't be all that surprising.

We are going to keep an eye on Season 3 of Legends of Tomorrow and see if any more news on Tala Ashe's Zari Adrianna Tomaz or other exciting castings are announced in the coming weeks.
