Is it weird that I love when my favorite live action characters get animated? I really can’t help myself, which is why I thought I would love the Community episode during Season 2, when creator Dan Harmon got excited about turning Jeff Winger and co. into claymation characters. Turns out I was wrong. I should have remembered how grotesque I used to think The California Raisins were in my youth, because that is exactly what I felt about Community in claymation. No worries, though, because Community is reworking the animation, and plans to have three animated shorts available online before new episodes of the NBC show begin airing on March 15.

It's still not nearly as cute and fuzzy as the Community characters animated to look like Charles M. Schulz works that promoters of the show posted to Facebook over the weekend. The props, like Abed’s camera, and the costumes, like Dean Pelton’s Snoopy outfit, are pretty priceless, and a huge reminder of why I have missed the gang and their wry, pop-culture speckled wit so much over the past few months. I’m such a sucker for cuteness.

Community’s triumphant return will air on NBC on Thursday, March 15 at 8 p.m. ET.
