Find Out How Halo 5 Multiplayer Is About To Change With This New Game Mode

Halo 5: Guardians' Warzone and Arena were spotlighted in the new trailer Microsoft released for the game during their GamesCom press conference. The trailer is just over a minute long and features a lot of hard-hitting multiplayer action. You can check it out below from the official Xbox channel.

The trailer doesn't necessarily show us anything we didn't already know about, but it does give gamers a bit more to look forward to regarding the Warzone mode, for sure. And there's a strong focus on the e-sports nature of the game as they promise that the game is easy enough for casuals to pick up and play, but hard enough for professional gamers to master.

The Warzone mode in Halo 5: Guardians is a unique game mode because it pits 12 players against 12 other players while AI enemies fill up the arena. It's like a big three-way battle and it's glorious.

There are two main modes for Warzone, one includes the three way battle where players will attempt to get enough points to win the match. The map is extremely large giving players room and space to ride around and utilize most of Halo 5's vehicles to their utmost. The team that scores the most points first wins.

The second mode for the game does not sport AI opponents and the objective is to take control of command points scattered throughout the maps. The objective is still to get the most points possible to win the round. This turns the game into somewhat of a Battlefield clone, as both sides will fight hard to control the map.

When the AI are around they will be distributed throughout the map at different times and there will be an AI boss to fight eventually. This gives the game a very different feeling from other maps and modes featured in Halo.

Some of the AI that players will face off against includes Prometheans and Covenant. There are two bosses, one from each faction.

There are only two confirmed maps so far that support the Warzone mode, but I would be willing to bet that Microsoft and 343 Industries will have more maps made available for Halo 5's new mode after the game launches for the Xbox One.

Unfortunately, though, Warzone modes cannot be used with the Forge or custom game options. It's only available through matchmaking. Major bummer, yeah?

The arena mode is a lot more compact and is designed for intimate gameplay. It's a 4-on-4 mode where weapon availability is equal for all teams and there are no loadout options. This is a mode mostly designed for competitive play to really see who has the better skills in Halo 5.

Halo 5 is due for release on October 27th, 2015 exclusively for the Xbox One.
