Meet Star Wars: The Old Republic's New Outlander Character

BioWare and Electronic Arts are prepping for the release of the newest expansion pack for Star Wars: The Old Republic called Knights of the Fallen Empire. The story follows the player-character as the “Outlander” of the Old Republic after being revived from carbonite sleep.

VG 24/7 spotted the latest trailer for the MMO coming out of E3's press conference during GamesCom 2015 in Cologne, Germany. You can check it out below.

The “Outlander” story saga can either be continued from a player's previously created character or it's possible to start a new character at level 60 to take on the new story adventures for the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion.

The YouTube comment section exploded with a lot of feverish fan feedback. Many gamers are absolutely ecstatic about the new update and the companions that are likely to join players along the way.

A lot of the discussion centers around a character known as Darth Marr potentially becoming a companion as players attempt to take down the Eternal Empire.

BioWare have been steadily expanding on the universe of Star Wars: The Old Republic after the game got off to a really rocky start back in 2011. Over time the game's subscription model was eventually dumped and it became a free-to-play MMO, which is kind of the path that many games take to compensate for low subscription numbers.

BioWare won back a lot of fans with high-quality expansions, and a focus on The Old Republic's single-player influenced story. Even though the game was criticized for being less like an MMO and more like a single-player RPG, it was also praised for the very same reason. Of course it's not possible to win over everyone, but for people who were looking for a Knights of the Old Republic sequel this is about as close as gamers are going to get to a legitimate, episodic Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3.

Opposite of the previous single-player RPGs, though, is that Star Wars: The Old Republic allows you to become more than just a Jedi or a Sith. It's actually possible to be a smuggler or a bounty hunter as well. The options really open up the game for a lot of replayability.

Even though The Old Republic never quite became as big as World of Warcraft it appears BioWare and EA have carved out a dedicated following for the MMO and a lot of those followers are excited to get their hands on Knights of the Fallen Empire when it launches on October 27th this fall. You can learn more about the MMO as well as the new expansion pack that they have in store by paying a visit to the game's official website.
