The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for constantly bringing new content to fans, both in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Because of this, there's non-stop discourse about upcoming Marvel movies, especially The Russo Brothers' next two Avengers movies. One theory is that Daredevil will appear in Secret Wars, and now Charlie Cox had addressed that chatter directly.

Fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order were thrilled when Cox returned as Daredevil/Matt Murdock in the MCU during a Spider-Man: No Way Home cameo. Since then he appeared in She-Hulk and Echo, in addition to starring in two seasons of Daredevil: Born Again. Folks really want to see him suited up in an Avengers movie, and at an MCM Comic Con panel (via ScreenRant) he addressed his rumored Secret Wars role by saying:

No, I'm not going to be in it, no. And you should believe me now. I'm not a liar.

Well, that's pretty cut and dry. Cox isn't playing coy or avoiding the question, and is instead all-out denying he has a role in Secret Wars. We'll just have to see if fans are satisfied with this response, or if the rumors will continue to swirl until the blockbuster hits theaters next December.

Charlie Cox might have definitely answered the question about his role in Secret Wars, but that doesn't mean that the fandom believes him. After all, Marvel's tight security requires actors to fib in interviews in order go guard against spoilers. Case in point: Andrew Garfield lying about his Spider-Man: No Way Home role for a year amidst rumors.

Daredevil has returned to the MCU in a big way with Born Again, but there are plenty of longtime fans who want to see The Man Without Fear finally on the big screen in a significant role. His cameo in No Way Home was fun, but Cox appeared as Matt Murdock rather than his superhero alternate ego. And since Punisher finally got to go from the small to silver screen in Brand New Day, calls for Daredevil to get his own crossover moment in Avengers: Secret Wars have only gotten louder.

Of course, only time will tell exactly what happens in that mysterious tile. Brand New Day's credits scene seemed to tease that Spider-Man will be part of the fun, although it's unclear if that'll once again be Tom Holland or perhaps Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield. Almost nothing is known about that project, with both the studio and fans instead focused on Doomsday's release later this year.

Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on December 18th as part of the 2026 movie release list. Secret Wars will follow suit on December 17, 2027. We'll just have to wait and see if Cox was telling the truth, or if Daredevil will get to join the battle against Doctor Doom.
