With Iron Man 3 coming out in just a month, it seems a pretty fair guess that our first look at Thor: The Dark World is coming soon, at the very least in a post-credits bit if not in a full-length trailer. But in the meantime we're still settling for scraps, which in this case means gifs and images from the behind-the-scenes footage featured on the newly released Marvel Phase One box set. Above you can see one of the several still shots captured by Movies.com, but if you want to see it all in action, check out this insane gif wall dug up by Comic Book Movie:

That's Thor crushing a car, slamming a hammer into some bad guys, looking regal next to Natalie Portman's Jane, summoning his hammer to his mighty fist and then swinging it back out, among many other things. A lot of this action looks like any other ancient-style epic, since the visual effects haven't been able to add in the otherworldly element. But much as they look like stunt men, those are probably dark elves that Thor is doing battle against-- we assume Christopher Eccelston's Malekith will be in there somewhere in the final version.

With a release date set for November 8, Thor: The Dark World will be the first effort in Marvel's attempt to set up a two-a-year schedule, testing just how often moviegoers can flock to mythologically dense superhero stories that all tie together. Given how surprisingly fun the first Thor was I'm not too worried about the dense part, but that all depends on how much new exposition Nick Fury drops at the end of Iron Man 3.
