More Cast Members To Clash For Titans

I still don’t know how I feel about a remake of Clash of the Titans. Admittedly, the movie can be very cheesy in places, but it was an important movie in my childhood, so I have a fond memory of the picture.

Cast announcements for the remake make me curious about how the new picture will turn out, although there appears to be a Bond fetish in the casting. We already told you this week about Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace) joining the film as Io, who helps Perseus (Sam Worthington) capture the winged horse Pegasas. Now two more have been added to the cast.

Mads Mikkelson, who played Casino Royale’s villain, will join the cast as Draco, the leader of the Praetorian Guard, who accompanies Perseus on his travels. Alexa Davalos, who wasn’t in a Bond picture but appeared in Defiance with current Bond, Daniel Craig, will play the movie’s primary love interest, the princess Andromeda.

If you haven’t seen the original Clash of the Titans, you are really missing out on a treat. With iconic visual effects by Ray Harryhausen, the movie tells the story of Perseus as he takes on several Greek titans in order to save the princess Andromeda. While the new movie sounds like it will have a similar plot, it also seems to be straying from the source material some, which is what is keeping me interested in seeing an updated version.
