See Deadpool Get Presidential After 8 MTV Movie Nominations

With the 2016 presidential election upon us, there’s no better way to get a good, solid leader in charge than by voting for Wade Wilson a.k.a Deadpool. If that doesn’t seem like a good idea, we can at the very least hope that Deadpool cleans up at this year’s MTV Movie Awards. The landmark superhero movie has garnered 8 nominations this year, and Ryan Reynolds has begun a campaign for the film to sweep the ceremony. Check out his Instagram post below.

Released to Ryan Reynolds’ personal Instagram profile, the image announces Deadpool’s "Presidential" campaign to win big at this year’s MTV Movie Awards. The picture showcases the Merc with the Mouth standing proudly, holding one of his sought after awards, with the words "Make MTV Great Again" scrawled above his head as an obvious nod to the Donald Trump presidential campaign. It’s hilarious, it’s satirical, and it’s everything we adore about Wade Wilson.

However, the allusions to Donald Trump don’t stop there. The Instagram caption to the photo also reads "I bet it feels huge in this hand." Those of us who have seen Deadpool know that this is a reference to one of the funniest scenes in the movie where Wade Wilson decides to get… personal with himself while using a hand that has not fully grown back yet. On another level, it also seems like a reference to the bickering over the size of Donald Trump’s hands that has become a constant talking point on the campaign trail.

It’s been almost two full months since Deadpool hit theaters, and we still cannot get enough of the character. We hope that the film wins big at this year’s MTV Movie Awards, because it’s time for movie studios to really get the point that a hard R-rating on a superhero movie is sometimes exactly what we need. With Deadpool 2 on the way, we think the next big era of superhero films may in fact finally be upon us; bring on Cable, please.

What did you think of Deadpool? Do you think the film deserves to win big at the MTV Movie Awards? Let us know what you think in the comments section below to keep the conversation going! Be sure to root for the Merc with the Mouth as he vies for 8 total MTV Movie Awards this coming Sunday at 8 p.m. EST on MTV, and remember: Deadpool 2016.
