What Nebula Should Do In Infinity War, According To Karen Gillan

Karen Gillan as Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 almost upon us, that means that we're one step closer to Avengers: Infinity War. While there's still a lot that even the cast of the movie doesn't know about that film, Karen Gillan knows what she wants to see her character do in the massive crossover. As somebody who has read the Infinity Gauntlet comic that the film will be based on, she'd love to see Nebula take the major role in the film that she also had in the comic. According to Gillan...

I hope so. Of course, that would be amazing! When I was preparing to play Nebula the first time, I read The Infinity Gauntlet. I loved it because it was like the most Nebula heavy comic and yeah, I mean that would be amazing if it does for that storyline. I'm hoping. I don't know yet -- very big secret, but I'm hoping.

We know that Avengers: Infinity War won't simply be a retelling of the comic story. Instead, it will be the MCU version of the same basic idea. The comic included numerous characters who either haven't been introduced in the MCU or simply don't exist in it. However, as Karen Gillan tells Screen Rant, Nebula plays a significant part in the comic and since she certainly does exist in the MCU, there's at least the possibility that the character will play a similar role in the film that she did in the comics.

We won't go deep into exactly what happens to Nebula here on the off chance that discussing it does turn out to be a spoiler for the film. Needless to say, Nebula spends the majority of the comic being abused by Thanos, but she doesn't end the story that way. She has a significant part to play in the finale of Infinity Gauntlet. So much so that if for some reason the movie won't use Nebula in the same capacity, it will require significant changes to the story as a whole.

It's possible that we'll get some hint of what's next for Nebula when we see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 next week. We know that Nebula will be an unenthusiastic member of the team in the new movie. Whether she'll remain one of the "good guys" at the end or end up someplace else entirely may give us an indication of where things are going. We do know that the MCU version of Nebula hates Thanos as much as anybody, so it's a safe bet that even if Nebula isn't a hero, she'll be on their side when things get serious in Avengers: Infinity War.

We'll finally know for sure how all the members of the MCU will fit into Infinity War when the movie hits screen May 4, 2018. You can check out everything we know about the movie here on CinemaBlend in order to stay up to date.
