Keanu Reeves had already left his mark on the movie landscape for roles like Neo in The Matrix trilogy and Theodore "Ted" Logan in the Bill & Ted duology (which may soon become a trilogy), but in recent years the actor has made a splash for playing John Wick. Both movies centered on the skilled assassin were critically and commercially successful, and in a little over a year we'll see him back in action for John Wick 3. While many of the players we met in John Wick and John Wick: Chapter 2 will return for the threequel, no official details have come out yet concerning new characters, but a new report claims that Halle Berry is being eyed to play the female lead.
According to the folks over at That Hashtag Show, Lionsgate is interesting in bringing Halle Berry aboard to act opposite Keanu Reeves in John Wick 3. If a deal is reached, Berry would play a character identified as "Sofia," who is described as a woman between ages 20-40 who has a small child. That's not a lot to work with, though considering that this is a John Wick movie, don't be surprised if she's an efficient killer. Along with being known for playing Storm in the X-Men film series, Berry had a recent turn as Ginger in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, so John Wick 3 would be a good way to expand her action resume.
John Wick: Chapter 2 ended with the eponymous protagonist being declared excommunicado and stripped of his underworld privileges after he killed Santino D'Antonio, that movie's main villain, on Continental grounds, which is a big no-no in this community. Making matters worse, the contract opened on John's head by Santino had been doubled and expanded globally. With a Marker given to him by Winston and a dog by his side, John Wick is now on the run and fighting for survival in New York City, which is where we'll meet up with him again in John Wick 3.
No specific John Wick 3 plot details have been officially released yet, but it was reported back in January that The Wolverine star Hiroyuki Sanada was being eyed to play the movie's main villain, the head of a Japanese crime syndicate. Assuming Halle Berry joins John Wick 3, it's unclear if her character will be one of John's allies or if she'll assist this powerful crime boss. As far as familiar faces go, Ian McShane, Ruby Rose, Common, Lance Reddick and Laurence Fishburne are all expected to reprise their respective roles.
