Gal Gadot Joins Wreck-It Ralph 2, See Her New Character

As if we weren't already on board for Disney's upcoming sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-it Ralph 2, the studio goes ahead and confirms Gal Gadot -- Wonder Woman, herself -- as a vocal addition to an outstanding cast! This morning, we learn that Gadot will voice a new character to the adventure, Shank. And with the above image of the badass racer that we have included, the studio also released this tease of the type of role Shank will play in the new movie:

Ralph and Vanellope encounter Shank and her unusual cohorts when they venture to the internet in search of a replacement part for Vanellope's game, Sugar Rush. Shank, a tough-as-nails street racer, takes her role and her tricked-out car very seriously and doesn't like to lose. When Vanellope finds herself in a street race with Shank, her Sugar Rush driving skills are put to the test---and Shank is impressed.

That's awesome to hear, because the racing scenes in the original Wreck-it Ralph were legitimately thrilling moments that added to the character of Vanellope (voice of Sarah Silverman), and gave her an original purpose which we haven't seen in too many Disney Princess movies... and make no mistake, Ralph was a Princess Origin Story for Vanellope, as much as it was a Hero's Quest for Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly).

When speaking about her new character, Gal Gadot explains:

Shank is amazing at driving cars and has this bad-girl vibe to her. But as the movie goes on you realize how fun, wise and warm she really is on the inside, which is what I like most about her.

While director Rich Moore adds:

She is the coolest character in this world of Slaughter Race. Shank's lived a lot, she's seen a lot, yet she's got nothing but kindness in her heart---that's the duality of that character.

This character reveal also tells us a few things we didn't know about the plot of Ralph Breaks the Internet... starting with the reason why Ralph (John C. Reilly) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) leave the arcade and enter the Internet in the first place. Now we know that the characters will be looking for a replacement part for the broken Sugar Rush console that Vanellope conquered in the first movie. Are there hints of that in the full trailer for Wreck-it Ralph 2?

Find out more when Ralph Breaks the Internet opens in theaters on November 21.
