Amidst all the queues, the large purchase and the gift buying going right after Thanksgiving, Disney+ is offering its own Cyber Monday deal. Already known as an extremely reasonably-priced streaming service, Disney+ will be available for the mere cost of $59.99 for the first year on Cyber Monday. It's a Festivus Miracle!
For the breakdown on what that seemingly arbitrary number means, that’s actually a markdown of $10 bucks on the annual cost, which may not seem like a lot, but given the service is already not super expensive, that’s a big markdown, particularly percentage-wise. The price point is for the first year of Disney+, after which the price will increase to the regular amount of $69.99. The offer (found here) is available to households in the U.S. and Puerto Rico on Cyber Monday.
It’s a gamble from Disney, which has rapidly added subscribers in the few short weeks that Disney+ has been available. Early on Disney revealed that 10 million households had added the service after the first day; that number has likely upped in recent weeks and we will hopefully hear more details soon.
There’s a 7-day free trial of the service that is currently available before you need to commit to more, and the timing is pretty good right now, given people are talking about one particularly adorable The Mandalorian spoiler on the regular. In addition, Frozen II is out in theaters and the original Frozen film is available on the streaming service to watch again before families head to the theater for the sequel.
That’s only a sampling of a slew of different items that Disney+ offers on its streaming service. A bunch of originals are on their way (if they haven’t been released already). That’s in addition to the classic streaming library on Disney+, some of which are still currently part of Netflix’s lineup but will be heading to the new streamer in the coming year.
There are a lot of different ways you can subscribe to Disney+, as the subscription streaming service also has a bundle that includes ESPN+ and Hulu+ for only $13 bucks a month.
Ultimately, as Disney+ expands its service, the prices are likely to go up (similar to what has happened to Netflix over the years). For now, shelling out $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year annually is a much cheaper price point than many of Disney+’s competitors. With the Cyber Monday deal things will be even more affordable. Jump on it now while it still lasts.
