Rebel Wilson Remembers How A Doctor Offending Her About Her Size Really Kicked Off Her Weight Loss Journey

Rebel Wilson in Isn't It Romantic?

Rebel Wilson has had a long and successful career as an actress and comedian. And while she became a household name for playing Fat Amy in the Pitch Perfect movies, Wilson recently lost a ton of weight and named herself “Fit Amy.” And she recently explained how a doctor offended her before she started her weight loss journey.

While many of us spent our time in isolation expanding, Rebel Wilson debuted her new figure and broke the internet in the process. Wilson has been open about her motivations to become healthier, and it turns out that future family planning factored majorly into this decision. As Wilson recently tried to explain her thought process behind getting healthy, saying:

That is such a massive question, but I'm going to try to answer it for you. It first started when I was looking into fertility stuff and the doctor was like, 'Well, you'd have a much better chance if you were healthier.’

Talk about pressure. Because on top of worrying about her own health, it turns out that Rebel Wilson really factored in future family planning before her weight loss journey. Even if that was originally an offensive response for the Cats star.

Rebel Wilson’s comments from her Instagram Live (via ET Online) offer an extremely honest look into her perspective and fitness journey. The Pitch Perfect star has no doubt been an inspiration for many regarding weight loss, and she’s now being generous by opening up about her experience. Later in her same Live, Wilson explained that she felt offended by the comments because she thought she was still a relatively healthy person.

Later in her Instagram Live, Rebel Wilson went on to explain how thinking about future children really did help to change her perspective regarding weight loss. As the Bridesmaids scene-stealer put it,

That's kind of what started it. If I lost some excess weight, it would give me a better chance for freezing eggs and have the eggs be a better quality. So that's what, at first, it wasn't even really myself, it was more thinking of the future mini-me really.

While initially being offended, it’s clear that these comments from her doctor did make an impact for Rebel Wilson. At the point of writing this story, Wilson lost a whopping 65 pounds since beginning her weight loss journey. The moviegoing public has definitely been paying attention to this transformation, and it should be interesting to see her back on the big screen.

Professionally, Rebel Wilson has a couple of exciting projects coming down the line. First up she’ll star in The Almond and the Seahorse, which is currently in pre-production. She’s also currently filming a new comedy titled Senior Year. In the meantime, check out the 2021 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience.
