The DC Extended Universe is a wild place that’s constantly keeping the moviegoing audience on their collective toes. The next installment is James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which will mark Margot Robbie’s third appearance as Harley Quinn. But is Robbie she taking a break from Harley after The Suicide Squad hits theaters?

While David Ayer’s 2017 Suicide Squad failed to meet expectations, fans did immediately respond to Margot Robbie’s performance as Harley Quinn. Robbie got a spinoff with Birds of Prey, and then jumped right into filming James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Robbie was recently asked if she might be burned out from playing the beloved femme fatale, to which she said:

No, I've had enough of a break. I'm ready to do her again. I did Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad back-to-back, so that was a lot of Harley all in a one year period, but that was a while ago now. I'm always ready for more Harley!

Do you hear that sound? It’s DC fans everywhere collectively clapping their hands. Because while Margot Robbie might have been exhausted after filming The Suicide Squad, she’s already eager to sink her teeth into another project as Harley Quinn. Now the question is, what exactly will that project be?

Margot Robbie’s comments to ET comes as Robbie has been promoting the release of The Suicide Squad. James Gunn’s R-rated romp has been getting a ton of critical praise, but some fans are already looking to the future of the DCEU-- especially where Harley Quinn is concerned. Luckily for us, the Bombshell actress isn’t tired of her signature character just yet.

The Suicide Squad will be available for a limited time on HBO Max at the time of its release. You can use this link to sign up for the streaming service.

While it’s unclear when Harley Quinn will return to the DCEU following The Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie has been open about various hopes she has for the character. She previously mentioned an interest in pairing Harley with Poison Ivy, as the two villains have a unique relationship in the comics. She’s also seemingly excited about Batgirl joining the DCEU.

Given this talk, most DC fans are confident that Harley Quinn will manage to survive the events of The Suicide Squad. James Gunn has been having fun teasing the various deaths of his R-rated blockbuster, especially given the massive cast of unknown characters. Gunn has also been praising Robbie’s performance in particular-- calling her one of the most talented actors he’s ever collaborated with.

The Suicide Squad will arrive in theaters on August 6th. In the meantime, check out the 2021 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience.
