On Friday, August 20, Reminiscence, the feature-length directorial debut of Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy, will open in theaters and welcome audiences into a not-so-distant future version of Miami that has been nearly wiped out by rising sea tides. This gritty and moody sci-fi noir starring Hugh Jackman, Dune's Rebecca Ferguson, and Thandiwe Newton tells the story of a private investigator whose life is thrown into disarray when a beautiful, mysterious, and potentially deadly woman enters his life. Jackman’s Nick Bannister has to look to the past uncover a dark secret, but you don’t have to leave your home to take it all in.
That’s right, you can watch Reminiscence streaming, and unlike for the characters in this mind-bender of a movie, getting to the bottom of the story isn’t all that difficult and it's far less painless. Let’s dive in, shall we?
Where To Watch Reminiscence Streaming
Like the rest of the Warner Bros' movies coming out in 2021, Reminiscence starts streaming on HBO Max the same day it opens in theaters, but there are a few thing to keep in mind if you plan on skipping a public showing.
First, only HBO Max subscribers with the ad-free model will be able to watch Reminiscence streaming, as none of the movies on WB’s slate are available for those with the cheaper, more limited ad-supported option. Second, the movie will only be available on the streaming service for 31 days, which means it will be removed on Monday, September 20.
When Will Reminiscence Be On HBO Max For Good
It isn’t all bad news, as Reminiscence will later be made available to everyone with an HBO Max subscription, no matter which option they choose. An exact date has yet to be announced, but other Warner Bros. movies that have been released this way have returned to HBO Max a little less than five months following their initial debut. This was most recently seen with Godzilla vs. Kong, which became a permanent fixture on HBO Max on August 17, 2021, a little less than five months after it opened in theaters on March 24. If this remains the case, we can expect to see Reminiscence at some point in mid-January 2022.
After Watching Reminiscence, Check Out Director Lisa Joy’s Work On Westworld
Reminiscence may be Lisa Joy’s first movie, but this isn’t the writer/director/producer’s first project; far from it. Alongside her husband, Jonathan Nolan, Joy co-created the HBO sci-fi western series Westworld in 2016 and has written and directed multiple episodes throughout the show’s three-season run so far. It will be quite some time before we see Westworld Season 4, however, it has never been easier to catch up with everything that has happened so far, as every episode is streaming on HBO Max.
Well, that’s all you need to know about how to watch Reminiscence streaming on HBO Max. If you want to know what else is coming to theaters (and streaming services), make sure to take a quick glance at CinemaBlend's 2021 movie premiere dates.
Philip grew up in Louisiana (not New Orleans) before moving to St. Louis after graduating from Louisiana State University-Shreveport. When he's not writing about movies or television, Philip can be found being chased by his three kids, telling his dogs to stop yelling at the mailman, or yelling about professional wrestling to his wife. If the stars properly align, he will talk about For Love Of The Game being the best baseball movie of all time.
