Channing Tatum And Jenna Dewan Release Statement About Break-Up

Channing Tatum Jenna Dewan in Step Up

Say it ain't so! Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan first met when they made 2006's dance drama Step Up. Since then, they've shared one of the most enviable relationships in Hollywood, but it has come to an end. As Tatum announced on Twitter last night, the couple has "lovingly" decided to split up.

In the extended Twitter post, Channing Tatum said the following about his long-term marriage.

Hey world! So... We have something we would like to share... We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision -- just two best-friends realizing it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible.

Channing Tatum began his social media confession by commenting on the strangeness of releasing such a statement. But he realized due to the celebrity status of the high profile couple (something both admit to being "deeply grateful for") and living in a world filled with lies online, it had to be done. Unfortunately, the rumors were true. Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan are calling it quits after all this time together, though Tatum says they're on good terms.

First off, it feels odd that we have to share this kind of thing with everyone, but it's a consequence of the lives we've chosen to lead, which we also happen to be deeply grateful for. We're living in an incredible moment in time, but it's also a time where truth can easily be distorted into "alternative facts." ;) So we want to share the truth so you know that if you didn't read it here then it's most certainly fiction.

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan got married back in 2009, and they've had nearly 10 years of marriage. Tatum and Dewan also share a 4-year-old daughter, Everly, together. In this public statement, Channing Tatum stresses that they will make the life transition as seamless as possible for her.

We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly. We won't be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family's privacy. Sending lots of love to everyone.

It was less than a year ago when Jenna Dewan told the story of how he first started dating Channing Tatum. As Dewan explained to Ellen Degeneres, the dancers-turned-actors were smitten with each other from the beginning, though it took a little while for the two to finally come together. As Dewan admits, their love affair began with tequila, underwear, Ugg boots and a sombrero. It's probably best that we just let Jenna Dewan tell their love story.

We're bummed to hear this devasting break-up news, but we're glad to know that they're still friends -- even when they're separating. Channing Tatum was last seen in Logan Lucky and Kingsman: The Golden Circle last year. Tatum also appeared on the limited Amazon series Comrade Detective. Next, he'll provide his voice to Smallfoot, set to be released on September 28th. He's also reprising his role as Superman in The Lego Movie Sequel. Tatum is also still attached to Gambit, though good knows if that movie is gonna happen anytime soon. Jenna Dewan, meanwhile, was last seen in Man with a Plan. She'll next appear in a segment in the anthology film Berlin, I Love You, released later this year.
