After Clashing Over Trump, Kanye West And John Legend Come Together For Chrissy Teigen's Baby Shower

Kanye West's return to Twitter has been eventful, to say the least. The iconic rapper hasn't shied away from bold proclamations, album announcements and, most recently, support and/or empathy towards s President Donald Trump. As a result, several celebrities have spoken out about Kanye's ranting and raving, and one or two have even reached out to West personally-- asking if he could reconsider his stance. That includes John Legend, who texted the controversial musician in a private exchange that became public thanks to Kanye. It was assumed there was potentially some beef between the two of them now, but that is apparently not the case. Kanye West shared a photo he recently took with John Legend while they attend Chrissy Teigen's baby shower, which you can see below. With a caption that proclaims they "agree to disagree," it suggests there are no hard feelings between the two -- even if their politics are in completely different directions right now.

The celebrity-filled baby shower was filled with many media personalities, including Kim Kardashian West, but Kanye West's appearance was the most noteworthy. Beyond being a controversial figure of late, Kanye West butted heads recently with John Legend when "All Of Me" singer sent the following heartfelt and concerned message to Kanye, an intimate exchange that became public thanks to Kanye West.

Hey it's JL. I hope you'll reconsider aligning yourself with Trump. You're way too powerful and influential to endorse who he is and what he stands for. As you know, what you say really means something to your fans. They are loyal to you and respect your opinion. So many people who love you feel so betrayed right now because they know the harm that Trump's policies cause, especially to people of color. Don't let this be part of your legacy. You're the greatest artist of our generation.

Kanye West took John Legend's words into consideration, but he didn't take them to heart. He's what Kanye texted back to the fellow musician before he screenshot the message and shared it to his millions of followers (which have reportedly dwindled in mass exodus since Kanye posted favorite tweets about our current president).

I love you John and I appreciate your thoughts. You bringing up my fans or my legacy is a tactic based on fear used to manipulate my free thought.

John Legend and Kanye West continued to hash it out in their text message correspondence, which Kanye continued to share on his social media. Legend even took advantage of the moment to promote his own upcoming music. Might as well, right?

Think freely. Think with empathy and context too. Your words and actions have consequences. Much love. And since you're posting texts, let me add that I have a new single out.

Kanye West appreciated John Legend's marketing skills, as he ended the conversation by laughing and saying that he loved Legend. Even when they disagree, their friendship remains strong. As for why Kanye West decided to share this private conversation, the rapper said there was a very specific reason why he did it.

Evidently, Kanye West is still going to be Kanye West -- whether people like it or not. He even released a new single today called "Ye vs. the People," where he talks about his political disagreements. Kanye is joined by T.I. in the track.

Meanwhile, Kanye West continues to promise his presidential run, this time on the 2024 ticket. We'll keep you posted on his latest developments.
