People Are Not Happy About Kylie Jenner Being Called Self-Made
Kylie Jenner has a lot of money. Like, a lot of money. $900 million, in fact. And the 20-year-old multi-millionaire might hitting the billion-dollar mark before she's legally allowed to drink. But she's earning a great deal of contention too, thanks to a recent profile piece from Forbes which claims that the famous reality TV star is a "self-made" billionaire. This statement has earned the celebrity the ire of a thousand (or perhaps more aptly, a billion) social media users -- many of whom take umbrage to such a claim being made. Especially since she's a prominent member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan. It's safe to say that the high-profile model has been given more opportunities than most people in this life to earn a whole lot of moolah thanks to her family connections and life on television, and people online weren't afraid to remind Kylie that that's the case. But first, here's a look at the magazine cover that is earning all the rage online today.
When the contentious Forbes cover made its way, it wasn't long after that social media users fired up their keyboards with cutting remarks towards Kylie Jenner and the bold claims made by the finance magazine -- like this one, for instance, from none other than Dictionary.com.
Furthermore, some people wanted to stress that Kylie Jenner's life story is, by no means, inspiring or uplifting for young people hoping to pursue the American Dream. Kylie Jenner was born with many advantages in her two decades on this planet, and social media users made it clear that they don't consider Kylie Jenner to be a figure worth respecting for getting close into the billion dollar game.
But not every comment about the article was completely covered in criticism. For instance, acclaimed writer Roxanne Gay admitted that Kylie Jenner's ongoing success is "commendable," although its ultimately been made possible due to extreme privilege.
Additionally, some people wanted to make the point that there is no such thing as a "self-made billionaire" in the first place. Someone has to pay for it, one way or another.
But it wasn't all negativity. There were also people who were coming to Kylie Jenner's defense, claiming that it wasn't merely about the foundation she was given, but how she used it to get more money, fame, success and notoriety. It should be noted that, in addition to her family wealth, Kylie Jenner is living large thanks to her Kylie Cosmetics company, which has earned millions and millions of dollars. To be more specific, the feature story claims Jenner's company has amassed $900 million, and it is only looking to gain more fortunes from here. That's certainly more than she received solely from her family.
There were also social media users who said it was "hard AF" for Kylie Jenner to do what she did, and they celebrated the young entrepreneur for rising up the ladder as quickly and as swiftly as she did.

And there were people who quickly came to the defense of all the Jenner and Kardashians, not simply Kylie Jenner.
This last tweet in particular earned the appreciation of none other than Kim Kardashian West herself. This is how she responded.
Meanwhile, Kylie Jenner hasn't responded to the criticism and backlash of the magazine cover yet, but she did sent out her appreciation to Forbes for recognizing her ongoing achievements.
While people will continue to argue on the merits of Kylie Jenner's success, it's apparent that her profile is only going to continue rising from this point forward. In the meantime, however, we'll be sure to keep you posted on all the latest developments in Kylie Jenner's soon-to-be billion dollar life right here at CinemaBlend.
