Selena Gomez Personally Reached Out To Demi Lovato After Hospitalization
Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez have been friends for a long time. The former Disney stars became fast friends at age 7, and they both accelerated their rising superstar careers around the same young, impressionable age. Gomez hasn't been seen in the public eye quite as often these days, both due to her health concerns and because the 26-year-old celebrity doesn't want to get caught up in the noise that is online chatter. But the pop singer is still well aware of Lovato's struggles, and she feels deeply for her. Although the singer/actress hasn't talked about it much, Gomez admits she reached out to Lovato in her time of need, even though it wasn't reported upon. Here's what Selena Gomez said when asked about Demi Lovato, with the reporter admitting that Gomez got choked up talking about the sensitive subject.
Selena Gomez's admission came during her recent interview with Elle Magazine. The conversation featured about a variety of different points, from her health to her involvement with the anti-human trafficking non-profit A21, to her involvement in Woody Allen's indefinitely-delayed A Rainy Day in New York. While Gomez was (mostly) willing to discuss these different topics, she did find herself overcome with emotion when it came to Demi Lovato. The fellow musician/actress was rushed to the hospital for an apparent overdose towards the end of July, and Lovato spent several weeks inside the hospital before she was transferred to rehab. The updates on Demi Lovato's condition have been fleeting, but she has received a wealth of support from friends, family and fans online.
There's no denying that it's a difficult time for Demi Lovato, and Selena Gomez has struggled to come up with the words to describe her feelings about the matter. But it's comforting to know that Demi Lovato has her pal's support during this difficult time in her life, and we hope that Demi Lovato continues to receive the care and comfort she needs during these next few months inside intense treatment. The musician has cancelled the remaining tour dates on her schedule, and Lovato is focused entirely on her health and well-being at the moment. We'll continue to keep you posted on her latest updates.
Meanwhile, Selena Gomez notes in the interview that she is spending less and less time on social media, opting not to get involved or even have the apps readily available on her phone. Gomez did admit that she spends time on platforms like Instagram periodically, as the artist did earlier this year when she shared a body positivity post while on a boat with some friends. But those moments are rare now. Meanwhile, we'll keep you posted on the newest updates from Selena Gomez right here at CinemaBlend.
