Who Kit Harington Thinks Should Take It All On Game Of Thrones

Tyrion Lannister Game of Thrones

One of the biggest questions in Game of Thrones (other than "oh my god, is winter ever going to come?!") is who will end up winning the Iron Throne. Contenders have risen and fallen over the years and there has been no shortage of fan theories and think pieces over who will stand victorious when the show finally ends after Season 8. Star Kit Harington probably doesn't know the answer just yet, but he has his own top pick: Tyrion Lannister. This is why the Jon Snow actor thinks that Tyrion will take home the gold.

Tyrion. Personally, I don't really tell people my theories about things, but I think it could be -- it's not exactly going to be Tyrion, but I think it could be Tyrion. I think he's, it almost all started with Tyrion like he's not the obvious choice. The obvious choice is Daenerys, possibly Jon Snow. But Tyrion has always been, I almost view the world through Tyrion. Like he seems to be separate from it like he sees it for the way it is. He seems almost to see that it is a fantasy, he's the person who seems most grounded, most real. He's also got the nose for it. I just like him, I've always liked him as a character, and the way Peter [Dinklage] portrays him so beautifully.

Jon Snow may be a contender for the King of Westeros but that doesn't mean that his actor thinks he'll do it. While Kit Harington isn't one for sharing his theories on Game of Thrones, he believes that when all is said and done, Tyrion Lannister will be the master of the Red Keep. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Harington was asked who he felt would win Game of Thrones and he immediately answered, "Tyrion."

The main reason for his choice seems to be that Tyrion isn't the obvious choice. He's also the "most grounded," which would make him the best ruler. However, as any Game of Thrones fan well knows, just because someone deserves something, rarely does it mean they get it, for good or for bad. At this point, it's not even guaranteed that Tyrion will live to see the end of the series.

Tyrion is a pretty solid choice for the Iron Throne. Right now, no one is the absolute standout. It could legitimately be anyone. But there are certainly favorites and while Daenerys, Jon Snow, and even Cersei Lannister are some of the top contenders, it could just as likely be Tyrion. He's sort of been groomed to rule over the course of the series, going from a drunk who just wanted to pee over the Wall, to someone capable of commanding armies. As far as arcs go, he's got one of the best, and being the Hand of the Queen might not be a suitable enough ending for him.
