One Way Meghan Markle's Romance With Prince Harry Has Affected Suits Co-Stars

Meghan Markle made a name for herself in primetime thanks to her role as Rachel on Suits, which recently hit a major milestone with its hundredth episode, but she's been making headlines lately for another reason. She has been romantically involved with none other than Prince Harry, and that relationship has apparently complicated the lives of at least one of her Suits co-stars in a big way. Patrick J. Adams, who plays con man-turned-lawyer Mike, revealed one downside of Markle's royal romance, saying this:

I posted this old photo I had found of Meghan and I on set. I went to bed, and woke up in the morning and realized 'Oh, yeah. I live in a world where you can't post things about Meghan.' . . . I had this onslaught of people retweeting the thing, people thinking it was a recent picture, and I just thought, 'What the hell is going on?' It was such an innocent moment of sentimentality that was twisted into something totally different. It made me feel like...why put myself through this? We're like brother and sister, it's not like it was lurid or anything, but it just became a story that people wanted to talk about.

Patrick J. Adams has shared a great many of his scenes with Meghan Markle over the years on Suits, as their characters started out in the pilot as will-they-won't-they colleagues and are currently engaged to be married. Esquire reports that Adams shared a photo from their early days on Suits due to the nostalgia of their 100th episode, and he was shocked by the social media backlash from folks who thought the actor was implying something about Prince Harry's lady love.

The Instagram photo (which has since been deleted) showed Meghan Markle kissing Patrick J. Adams on the cheek on set years ago, and it was really nothing scandalous. Still, the reaction online was fierce enough that Adams has gone even further than simply deleting the picture; he has also deleted his Instagram and Twitter accounts entirely. Given that Mike and Rachel probably won't be cooling their small screen romance off any time soon, it may be for the best that he takes a break from social media.

That said, the Suits Season 7 midseason finale aired earlier this week, so the Mike/Rachel romance will probably off many people's radars for at least a few months. The hiatus may be good timing, as Meghan Markle may well be making her first public appearance with Prince Harry before the end of September. A lot of people are invested in the lives and loves of the British royalty, and the Suits cast as a whole may need to be careful about what Meghan Markle content they post on social media. Markle's comments indicate that she and Prince Harry are pretty serious about each other.
