When Dave Chapelle’s Next Netflix Special Will Be Released
After a long absence from the public eye, Dave Chappelle returned to the world of comedy with a vengeance over the last year. In addition to his fantastic appearance on Saturday Night Live, he also delivered some great Netflix-based stand-up -- with the promise of more on the way. We have been waiting to hear when his next special would actually drop, and now it seems that we can look forward to seeing it debut on the streaming service before the end of the year -- at the very last minute.
After months of waiting, Netflix has officially announced the premiere date for Dave Chappelle's next Netflix stand-up special. Titled Dave Chappelle: Equanimity, the comedy special is dated to debut on New Year's Eve. This latest routine will mark his third special to be released on Netflix, following the simultaneous release of the first two in March. We're not sure what topics the long-time stand-up plans to tackle in Equanimity, but his overall consistency as a comedy performer and as an actor seems to promise something special when December 31 finally rolls around.
To commemorate the announcement, the streaming service also released a short teaser of Dave Chappelle injected into the world of Stranger Things. Check it out below.
Dave Chappelle is one of many comedians who has benefited from Netflix's increased demand for stand-up comedy content. The streaming service has shelled out a crazy amount of money for content by heavy-hitters like Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, and Louis C.K. -- before his recent sexual misconduct allegations. The streaming service now has a reasonably definitive vice grip on the comedy format, to the point that other companies like Comedy Central have started to branch off and find new ways to bring comedy to fans without using the special format.
With Dave Chappelle now set to return to Netflix before the end of this year, I think I finally know what I am going to be doing on New Year's Eve.
