Watch Kevin Costner's TV Return In Intense First Trailer For Yellowstone

After rebranding away from the Spike label, the Paramount Network has gotten itself off to a solid start. The network has landed on good footing with its recent debut of Waco, and now a group of Hollywood heavy-hitters are gearing up to tell another gritty story about hardened Americans surviving in an unforgiving country. On that note, a new trailer for Paramount's Kevin Costner-fronted series Yellowstone has just debuted, and it looks like an intense neo-western that many of you won't want to miss. Check it out, below.

From the mind of Sicario writer Taylor Sheridan, Yellowstone centers on a family of ranchers forced to contend with a group of outsiders moving in on their land. The series has a very palpable western sensibility (although like many of Sheridan's projects, it's a modern western) and it features Kevin Costner at the center of it all as patriarchal cowboy John Dutton. Along the way, the trailer shows us guns, temptation, murder, and all of the other intense story elements that we can typically expect a story of this ilk.

Though known primarily for his film work in movies like Field of Dreams and The Untouchables (as well as his more recent film work in projects like Molly's Game and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Costner has worked in TV before -- most notably on 2012's Hatfields & McCoys. Now, this first trailer for Yellowstone seems to make it abundantly clear that he's going to give us something that's gritty, grimy, and downright brutal in its portrayal of a modern American rancher.

While Kevin Costner is the star of the show, one other element that's especially worth pointing out is Taylor Sheridan. The writer/director is on a hot streak right now after his work on projects like Wind River and Hell or High Water (the latter of which earned him an Oscar nomination last year), so his decision to make a show like Yellowstone his next project definitely seems to lend a sense of credibility and prestige to this upcoming series.

In addition to Kevin Costner, Yellowstone has assembled a fascinating ensemble of actors. Beyond the Field of Dreams star, we can also expect to see Wonder Woman's Danny Huston, Dazed and Confused's Cole Hauser, and Interstellar's Wes Bentley. Additionally, Yellowstone has also enlisted the acting chops of Gil Birmingham, who has arguably become Taylor Sheridan's good luck charm after his performances in films like Wind River and Hell or High Water.

Yellowstone will debut on the Paramount Network this June. It's only one of many major TV debuts on the horizon. If you want more information on all of the shows debuting in the next few months, then head over to our midseason premiere guide to fill out your spring calendars accordingly!
