Pornhub Is Offering To Produce HBO's Cancelled Adult Shows

HBO was the place to be for late-night nudity and soft-core "romance" for a long time. In fact, the premium cable network could boast unscripted series like Real Sex and Taxicab Confessions that didn't shy away from showing explicit sex scenes. Well, HBO recently made the decision to stop showing such adult programming, but that doesn't mean shows like Real Sex and Taxicab Confessions are are gone for good, as Pornhub is looking to produce those shows for a second life online. No, this is no prank. Here's how Pornhub amazingly revealed the offer:

It's a shame to see HBO rid itself of its late-night adult programming, and we consider classic shows such as 'Taxicab Confessions' and 'Real Sex,' among others, to be vestiges of a bygone era. Here at Pornhub, with over 90 million daily visitors, we can attest to the continued demand for adult programming and think there is immense value in the promotion and consumption of sex positive shows. That said, we would like to extend an offer to help produce new seasons of the informative skin-baring programs and host them on our HD, on-demand platform Pornhub Premium. We would also be willing to house past seasons of said programs on Pornhub Premium for our fans to enjoy 24/7. At the end of the day we're all about penetrating new markets, and we're excited to insert ourselves into this discussion and hopefully provide more compelling original content for our fans.

First of all, kudos to Pornhub for managing to phrase the offer in a manner that both pitches a way for HBO's late-night adult series to live on and includes some expertly-crafted innuendo. Why not release a statement revealing interest in helping to produce shows like Taxicab Confessions and Real Sex that also refers to extending, penetrating and inserting? Oh, Pornhub. Never change. Could we expect any less of the service that never fails to pull epic April Fools pranks and offers free access to Pornhub Premium to residents of towns with suggestive names? I bet residents of places like Threeway, VA, Horneytown, NC, and Fucking, Oberösterreich would appreciate this initiative.

Second of all, would anybody really object to these series continuing on a platform like Pornhub, especially since Pornhub is looking to host past seasons as well as produce new ones? HBO didn't state that the adult programming was being removed due to moral objections or distaste for the productions. Rather, HBO is ramping up alternate original programming and the removal of adult content is reportedly due to a reduced demand for shows revolving around sex.

Game of Thrones can still show as much Westerosi skin as the producers desire; just no Real Sex and the like. Since HBO's decision to end the adult programming doesn't seem connected to a desire to purge the media world of the series, maybe HBO would be on board with the shows living on elsewhere. Hey, if we're in an era where streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime can rescue cancelled shows, why can't Pornhub get in the game?

We'll have to wait and see if Pornhub gets to encourage sex positive shows on its premium platform in a brand new way. If a deal goes through that sends Real Sex and Taxicab Confessions to Pornhub Premium, I wouldn't be surprised if subscriptions skyrocket. Only time will tell. Pornhub clearly isn't struggling to stay afloat even without ongoing programs like those previously hosted by HBO.

If you're in the market for some non-pornographic viewing options, be sure to check out our fall TV premiere guide. HBO has some interesting projects coming and returning to the small screen in the not-too-distant future, and Game of Thrones will be back in 2019, undoubtedly to show off plenty of skin in its final batch of episodes. Will there also be incest and scheming in the sex scenes? Probably. But they won't be censored or prohibited by HBO.
