Dog The Bounty Hunter Is Returning To TV For New Show

Dog the Bounty Hunter is on the way back to the small screen! Duane "Dog" Chapman was a memorable figure on A&E for years thanks to Dog the Bounty Hunter chronicling his work as a bounty hunter, with wife Beth as a key figure on the series. That show, which was responsible for making him famous, was cancelled back in 2012. Now, Dog and Beth are returning to TV to star in a new unscripted series for WGN America, called Dog's Most Wanted.

In Dog's Most Wanted, Dog and Beth will hunt down the Most Wanted Fugitives as determined by lists from the FBI, U.S. Marshals, and States throughout the U.S. Bringing these criminals to justice is the name of the game, and they'll be helped by a fierce team of bounty hunters known as "The Dirty Dozen." The fugitives make up a "bucket list" of bad guys for Dog. The show is set to begin production in early 2019, so hopefully fans of Dog won't have too terribly long to wait before new footage releases.

Dog's Most Wanted is the first unscripted series for WGN America in more than five years, and it is described as a "ten-part series." Does that description mean that Dog's Most Wanted will be a limited series event that begins, runs, and definitively concludes after the ten episodes? Or is this simply a case of a show that got a straight-to-series order of ten episodes, with the potential for more on the way? We'll have to wait and see.

In a statement announcing the exciting news about Dog's Most Wanted, Dog himself had this to say:

Crime in America is skyrocketing! Criminals are finding it easier to avoid the system. With more and more dangerous criminals running the streets, the time couldn't be better for the World's Greatest Network to bring back the World's Greatest Bounty Hunter. Fugitives beware!

Dog, Beth, and The Dirty Dozen probably do have the bounty hunting skills to back up Dog's words, assuming The Dirty Dozen are the kind of bounty hunters capable of keeping up with Dog. Dog famously went from a member of a motorcycle gang to a prison inmate to a celebrated bounty hunter, who became a household name after capturing FBI's Most Wanted fugitive Andrew Luster. Dog the Bounty Hunter aired more than 300 episodes over a span of more than ten years (if we count the 2017 special that caught fans up with Dog and Beth).

The famed bounty hunter and his wife actually did make their way back to TV on a show in between Dog the Bounty Hunter and the upcoming Dog's Most Wanted. They starred in a CMT series called Dog and Beth: On the Hunt, which aired for three seasons from 2013-2015. Dog's Most Wanted airing on WGN America means their three big shows air on three different networks.

Dog's Most Wanted is slated to begin production this year, but no details have been released about when the show could actually hit the airwaves.
