MTV's The Hills Spinoff Trailer Welcomes Back Heidi Montag And More, With First Look At Mischa Barton

It seems like an eternity ago that MTV announced that The Hills was coming back via a revival. Well, those excited for The Hills: New Beginnings can finally get their first look at the series. MTV has released a brief but interesting look at returning stars like Heidi Montag and new cast member, Mischa Barton. Check them and others out below:

I cannot wait to see more this summer! The first twenty-three seconds focus on some of the highlights of the past. Then the video flashes forward, picking up in the present day. Among those garnering some of the spotlight is "Speidi," a.k.a. Heidi Montag and her husband Spencer Pratt. Their romance, engagement, wedding, and life as newlyweds were all covered on The Hills.

The Hills: New Beginnings is set to chronicle a new chapter in their lives, one that took place well after the original series ended. Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are parents now. The trailer shows Heidi hiking and carrying their son along for the ride. Spencer can be heard speaking admiringly of seeing Heidi as a mom.

Some things have clearly not changed as the Pratts appear to still be every bit as in love as they were on The Hills. Spencer and Heidi are not the only ones to become parents since The Hills ended. Their co-star Audrina Patridge is a mom now.

Yes, Audrina is returning for the revival and can be seen talking to Spencer’s sister, Stephanie, in the trailer. Oh, and Justin Bobby is back. Apparently, he is ready for a second shot at love with Audrina. Their on-again/off-again relationship stirred a lot of drama on the original Hills. Will it happen again?

Barely seen in the trailer is actress Mischa Barton. The O.C. fan favorite can be spotted standing next to Audrina Patridge at the 47-second mark. Unfortunately, she does not get a line or any footage that appears to be from the episode.

So far, it seems like you will have to tune in to see her in action. Here is the glimpse you do get in the trailer:

What makes Mischa Barton joining The Hills: New Beginnings so interesting is that viewers are familiar with her. Not because she was on a reality show, but rather for her work in scripted dramas. It adds a new angle to things. Back in February, Mischa Barton weighed in on doing The O.C. versus the reality show. Barton told Interview Magazine:

Throughout my career, people have totally confused Laguna Beach and The O.C. I think in people’s minds, it all kind of got blurred over time. When I was doing my own show, I saw a couple episodes of Laguna Beach here and there. Everybody would ask, ‘Have you heard about this reality version of The O.C?’ Being on the show now, I very much feel like what they do is a craft for them, and I give them props for that. I’ve found that what works best is to really embrace the process for what it is, which is just being yourself. If you’re not being yourself, it shows immediately. The camera doesn’t lie.

Mischa Barton heading for The Hills is going to be another great reason to tune in. I have to say that I’m curious to see what she brings to the show. It should be fun. While prospective viewers did not get to see a lot of Barton in the trailer, they did get a glimpse of some other familiar faces.

Among those returning from The Hills’ original run are Brody Jenner, Frankie Delgado, Whitney Port, and Jason Wahler, all of whom were featured in the trailer's second half. Jenner, Delgado, and Wahler’s spouses will also star, per TVLine. As will newcomer Brandon Thomas Lee, who is the son of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee.

Fans of the original will recall that Jason Wahler dated Lauren Conrad during the first season of The Hills. Conrad is not returning for the revival. An intriguing cast of characters is nevertheless on board.

Watch all of the drama unfold when The Hills: New Beginnings premieres Monday, June 24 at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.
