All The Big Reveals From This Is Us Season 4's Trailer: Jennifer Morrison To M. Night Shyamalan

Mandy Moore This Is Us NBC

After introducing a slew of questions at the end of Season 3, This Is Us is introducing even more in this new look at Season 4. Those who thought the mystery of Kevin's baby mama was going to carry the weight of what's happening in the new season can think again, as the latest footage has introduced a bunch of new characters played by some familiar faces and a lot of unfamiliar ones.

We knew Jennifer Morrison was joining the cast of This Is Us, but that's just the beginning. We also see former House star Omar Epps, Nick Wechsler, Psych veteran Timothy Omundson and, in a twist similar to one the director would pull himself, M. Night Shyamalan! There's even more people to mention than that, but for now, let's dive into the trailer to see all these folks in action.

So, who are all these people? Well, it feels telling that This Is Us' Season 4 trailer opens up with Rebecca talking about how complete strangers can be such a big part of someone's story. These people may not be anyone the Pearson clan knows right now, but they'll likely affect their lives in some way. Some may become friends, others enemies, and some may even be future husbands or wives!

It may feel super over-whelming and like character overload at first, but remember these folks could pop up in any one of the many time periods This Is Us now covers. Fans have seen episodes that take place back in Jack and Rebecca's early days, all the way up to Rebecca's death bed, and these peeps could be appearing an any one of them. With that said, the military outfit of Jennifer Morrison's character looks somewhat recent, so expect her to appear close to the present or future.

I'd also wager M. Night Shyamalan's character is going to be in the present timeline, seeing as This Is Us frequently has actual Hollywood celebrities appear as themselves on the show. This is probably tied to Kevin's film career, and Shyamalan may be the director for an upcoming project he's involved in. Hopefully it's something closer to The Sixth Sense than The Happening!

All of these names mentioned are just the people we know, by the way, and there's still a bunch of characters that appeared that we have no idea who they are. Unfortunately, we have next to no details on what any of them will be doing, although creator Dan Fogleman did say Season 4 could have a potentially polarizing start due to these characters. Are we switching gears to a new cast?

Not entirely, it seems, as the whole trailer isn't stacked with new characters and the familiar folks we know and love appear as well. That includes the aged Nicky Pearson, who everyone had questions about after seeing him and not Miguel at Rebecca's bedside in the future. What was that all about? Hopefully we find out soon!
