This is set to be a massively important year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The franchise is not only launching Phase 4 with two new blockbusters coming out in May and November (Black Widow and Eternals), but it will also be unleashing the first wave of Disney+ shows. The small screen slate is kicking things off with The Falcon And The Winter Soldier and WandaVision in the coming months, with Loki scheduled to arrive in 2021, and they are all expected to have big parts to play in developments of the world post-Infinity Saga. Unfortunately, it's been tricky to get an exact read on the projects, as there has been a lot of secrecy surrounding them, but that changed in a big way tonight with the launch of the Marvel Disney+ Super Bowl trailer.

The spot that aired during the fourth quarter of tonight's game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs provided us our first ever look at the first three Marvel Disney+ shows, and it has sent our excitement through the roof. This is particularly because of the many cool things we spotted in the trailer, which we've catalogued for you below!

WandaVision

WandaVision Will Explore Sitcoms In Multiple Decades

We learned months ago that WandaVision would have an aesthetic inspired by The Dick Van Dyke Show, but this new Super Bowl trailer seems to suggest that the classic sitcom will only serve as inspiration for a particular fraction of the Disney+ series. Based on this trailer, we will be seeing Dick Van Dyke elements play into a portion of the show that will be in black-and-white and based on 1960s television, but it would appear that part of WandaVision's charm will be that it will take inspiration from a wide variety of sitcoms through history. The middle still above looks very Brady Bunch-esque (a.k.a. the look for the 1970s), and on the right the aesthetic seems very Married With Children a.k.a. the 1980s. But that's not all...

Scarlet Witch’s Comic Book Costume

When watching the Marvel Disney+ trailer for the first time, this was the moment that truly stuck out. While the live-action incarnation of Scarlet Witch has had costumes featuring particular references to the design of the character in the comics, mostly involving her favorite color, but this is the first time that we've seen Elizabeth Olsen sport a look that is directly lifted from the pages of Marvel Comics. Adding to the information to the previous section, it also seems like she could potentially be wearing this outfit for a considerable portion of the series, as it looks like it could be what she wears for one of the particular sitcom decades (maybe the 1990s?).

The First Official Look At US Agent

The Falcon And The Winter Soldier segments weren't big on reveals regarding the principal characters, as Anthony Mackie's Falcon and Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier are shown sporting familiar looks (not to mention that Daniel Bruhl's Helmut Zemo still isn't wearing his mask), but one brand new hero who makes his debut in the Super Bowl footage is Wyatt Russell's John Walker a.k.a. U.S. Agent. We don't get a look at the character from the front, but fittingly given the timing of the trailer's release he appears to be making his way onto a football field to be a part of some kind of performance. Has he become the new star-spangled hero Americans are familiar with following the "retirement" of Captain America? We'll have to wait and find out when the show makes its way on to Disney+ this fall.

Scarlet Witch And Vision Will Have Children

This is more of a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, and perhaps something that most people won't catch until their second viewing of the Marvel Disney+ Super Bowl trailer. Around 23 seconds into the package, the 1980s-era Scarlet Witch appears to be startled by something popping out from the bottom of the screen... and if you pause it at the right time, you'll notice that what we are seeing is a pair of pacifiers. This seems to suggest that WandaVision will be introducing Thomas and William – the twin sons of the two titular characters. In the comics they are birthed as a result of Wanda's reality-warping powers, and given that we're still not entirely sure how Vision is alive after the events of both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, it's not hard to assume that the show will have some similar weirdness surrounding their existence and origins.

Loki Will Be Grappling With The Time Variance Authority

In Avengers: Endgame, 2012 Loki manages to escape the custody of the Avengers/S.H.I.E.L.D. by making use of the Space Stone a.k.a. The Tesseract, and it's this version of the God of Mischief that audiences will be following in the character's upcoming solo TV series. What's interesting about this, though, is that this incarnation of Loki is basically breaking the laws of reality by simply existing... which is why he is going to be having a bit of trouble with a higher authority. Based on the initials that can be sported on the jumpsuit that Tom Hiddleston is wearing in the still above, it appears that the fan-favorite character is going to be at some point captured by the Time Variance Authority – a Marvel Comics creation from 1986 that serves as a bureaucracy monitoring multiverse disturbances. If they discover a timeline that is too dangerous to exist, they act to shut it down. That could mean real trouble for Thor's brother, and some excellent drama for the Loki series.
