Netflix's Epic Tales Of Captain Underpants Clip Reveals Why Season 4 Is Heading To Space

For its first three seasons (and two excellent specials), Netflix's animated series The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants has largely kept all the explosive hijinks and adventures centrally located on Earth. But it was only a matter of time before George and Harold figured out a way to take things up a notch by completely leaving the planet altogether, leading to the show's new season, which has been accurately retitled as The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants in Space!

In the exclusive clip below, curious fans can witness the predictably ridiculous reasons why Principal Krupp and the key players from Jerome Horowitz Elementary School will be heading into the cosmos for the upcoming six-episode miniseries, which will be making its Netflix debut on Friday, July 10. Check it out!

For anyone who wasn't able to watch the above, the space agency P.O.O.P.S.I.E. – not to be confused with Poopsie Chucklebutt from the fourth Captain Underpants novel – is changing the game of space exploration by holding a contest to send "one lucky school" on a trip to the space station. Why would they want to do such a thing? Obviously so that their top scientist Dr. Shifty Fitzgibbons can research the effects of zero gravity on learning, duhhh. (Fun fact: Dr. Shifty Fitzgibbons is voiced by famed video game voice actor Nolan North, best known as Uncharted's Nathan Drake, who will soon be heard as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the Avengers game.)

Obviously, George and Harold's school is the one that gets chosen; otherwise, this would be a very confusing season. What viewers probably wouldn't expect is that it barely took any trickery or hardline conniving for the boys to convince Principal Krupp to opt in on their space-related plans. As it happens, Krupp is immediately down to blast off due to his age-old high school rivalry with Moxie Swaggerman, who topped the current principal in numerous events: a science fair, a wrestling match and as prom queen. Would Krupp have been successful at any of these events even if Moxie Swaggerman wasn't involved? Pro-o-o-bably not.

Because "vengeance" is not exactly the most logical reason to take a bunch of students into the void of outer space, fans should probably expect to see Principal Krupp getting served several slices of humble pie as problems start to arise once the trip starts. It's not clear yet how it'll happen, but rest assured that his rival Moxie (voiced by Fast & Furious Spy Racers' Secunda Wood) will be involved in some way. Will she end up being the one to save everyone? Well, I guess it's more likely that some multi-headed alien cyborg version of Moxie will be the savior here.

In the first part of the above clip, Harold pretty much sums up exactly why I'm expecting this next batch of Captain Underpants episodes to be as awesome as everything else. In his words:

Adventure, explosions, weird aliens, witty banter and a lack of gravity! Doesn’t get any better.
