Kevin Smith And More Share Thoughts After Checking Out Marvel's WandaVision Trailer

Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany as Vision on WandaVision (2020)

The first WandaVision trailer has finally arrived and, as expected, its release has ignited a plethora of responses from Marvel fans, who are pumped that the show will still be arriving in 2020. In addition to fans, reactions have also come from a number of high-profile figures including pop culture superfan Kevin Smith. Not only that, but a few Marvel creatives have also shared some cool thoughts on the first look at Wanda Maximoff and Vision’s new TV-centric adventure.

Kevin Smith has never hidden his love of superhero content, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the franchises he loves most. After checking out the first trailer for WandaVision, Smith reminisced on his childhood experiences with the two main characters and expressed excitement for what their adventure could mean for the future. If you’re a longtime Marvel Comics reader, it’s hard to disagree with Kevin Smith’s sentiments. Wanda and Vision have had quite a history in the comics, and seeing it truly play out in a trippy, live-action adaptation should be a real treat for fans.

Also in awe of the trailer was Michael Waldron, the head writer and showrunner of Marvel Studios and Disney+’s Loki. While praising the footage, the Rick and Morty alum looked back on working in close proximity to the WandaVision team while developing his own show:

Ms. Marvel showrunner Bisha K. Ali also couldn’t help but share her excitement for the upcoming series. And like Waldron, she also recalled memories from working in the offices at Marvel Studios:

While it’s nice to see Kevin Smith give his thoughts on the upcoming show, it’s also great to hear fellow Marvel creators give kudos to another project. Based on what we all saw in the trailer, it must’ve been interesting for Waldron and Ali to hear showrunner Jac Schaeffer and her writing staff discuss their plans.

WandaVision has the potential to give fans something that’s never been done in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The show, which sees Wanda and Vision living in a seemingly peaceful suburb, has been touted as a “surreal” show that will expand on what we know about the two lead characters.

Of course, Michael Waldron and Bisha K. Ali are also working on shows that will expand and change the MCU. Waldron is set to further develop the God of Mischief and explore the trauma the character has faced. Ali, on the other hand, is set to introduce an entirely new hero to the continuity, who will no doubt serve as a breath of fresh air.

The anticipation for WandaVision is gradually building and, in a year devoid of major MCU content, it’s just what the fans are looking for to close out 2020.
