Here's What Disney+ Is Adding In January 2021

WandaVision

Disney could not have possibly launched its streaming service at a better time. 2020 was the first full year that the service existed and it was also the year that streaming services become more important to consumers than ever before. 2020 on Disney+ saw the release of several films planned for theaters, like Mulan and Soul, go directly to the service. We also saw films like Frozen II and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hit the service much sooner than ever anticipated.

2021 will see a solid collection of library content arrive on the service. We'll see animated films that were made via Fox studios like Horton Hears a Who and Ferdinand. We'll also get the Star Wars: Forces of Destiny shorts released in four volumes, which will make them easier for many to watch. On the Disney movie front we'll see Mary Poppins Returns make the jump from Netflix to Disney+ in the middle of the month.

Of course, the big Disney+ launch for January will be the streaming service's first original live-action Marvel series in WandaVision. This will be the first of several series connected to the existing Marvel Cinematic Universe to launch on Disney+.

The back half of January will be a little light when it comes to new Disney+ content. All four seasons of the series will drop together at the end of the month. Whether you're an old fan who wants to relieve the series, or somebody curious about the cult hit, it should be plenty to keep you busy into February.

As far as original Disney+ content goes, we have Pixar Popcorn, a collection of "mini shorts" that will give fans a chance to touch base once again with some popular characters from a variety of Pixar movies.
