For the past near seven years, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been a dominant celebrity couple. They supported each other through their various projects – like filming for Keeping Up With the Kardashians or going to West’s Sunday Service performances. But that has all changed since the announcement of their impending divorce, and Kardashian is reportedly trying to navigate this “new norm” without a significant other.

Neither Kim Kardashian nor Kanye West have spoken publicly about their supposed issues or the divorce, yet. According to a source for ET Online, though, Kardashian is making it through this new norm by grounding herself with being social, spending time with her friends and of course, her family. They said:

She is focused on making sure her kids are taken care of and protected. But she is definitely still getting used to her new norm.

Surely, the Kardashian-Jenners have a legion of nannies and helpers to aid them in these times of crises. But divorce can shake up even the best foundations. USA Today reported just this week that Kanye West also filed for joint custody of their four children – North, Chicago, Saint, and Psalm. Kardashian allegedly wants her kids to have a relationship with their father but, if custody becomes 50/50, Kardashian would technically have to get used to life without seeing her kids all of the time.

Amidst the airing of the final season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian’s family started speaking out in support of her and Kanye West during these difficult divorce proceedings. Caitlyn Jenner said Kardashian would “at some point” address the situation publicly, but said, “It’s her statement and not mine [to make]. I love her to death. She’s a great person.” However, Kardashian’s mom Kris Jenner reflected recently that Kardashian could learn from her own experience with divorce and recommends focusing on the kids. She said to The Wall Street Journal Magazine:

The love is going to get you through, no matter how much you’re hurting. I used to put everybody to bed and then I would be upset. Or go to my room and cry myself to sleep. But I didn’t want to have a pity party in front of my kids…I think you really just have to try and focus on what the priority is.

It sounds like Kim Kardashian is taking her mom’s advice. The Keeping Up with the Kardashian star has been blissfully posting pics of her successful SKIMS shapewear brand and her spring vacation with her kids. Even still, things are reportedly a bit tense and awkward when it comes to co-parenting – so much so that Kanye West apparently wasn’t with the family for their Easter celebrations.

Divorce definitely changes family dynamics. Everything from spending holidays together to important milestones have to be reimagined, persevered, and sometimes, incomplete. One can only hope that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West make their new normal into a new beginning.
