Divorces are rocky no matter the status of the couple. For mega celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West though, there is the added pressure of public scrutiny that complicates the proceedings. Now, following the confirmation of their divorce, early reports reveal the awkward way West and Kardashian are co-parenting their four children amidst the scrutiny.

Kanye West opted to cut himself off from Kim Kardashian entirely before she filed for divorce last month, according to a source for Page Six. Supposedly, West is shutting out Kardashian in other ways, too. The source stated:

Even before Kim filed for divorce, Kanye changed his numbers and said, ‘You can contact me through my security.’

Kanye West’s perceived shut-out of Kim Kardashian during their divorce is indeed an awkward way to co-parent. Instead of their four children North, Saint, Psalm, and Chicago seeing their parents show a united front, West and Kardashian are allegedlly avoiding being in the same room or space ever with each other. The source had even said that West and Kardashian are reportedly jumping through different kinds of hoops to ensure there is no contact between them, saying:

She leaves the house and he arrives and hangs out with the kids. They have an army of nannies so the transition is easy.

The awkward nature of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s co-parenting strategy might be necessary for the couple in the long term. The filming of Keeping Up with the Kardashians was allegedly always a hard limit for the notoriously private rapper, who preferred only to be on the periphery of the show that starred his wife and family. Even though Keeping Up with the Kardashians is having its final season this year, the show will still supposedly feature the lead-up to their divorce.

The Kardashian-Jenner clan is widely speculated to be having another reality series debut on Hulu next year. If so, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s awkward, Iron Curtain co-parenting style will likely pay off in any future filming scenario. If the two are never in the same room, then camera couldn’t capture glimpses and interactions that could be misinterpreted.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's mega celebrity status is the conundrum, however. It inhibits a constant stream of speculation about their strained relationship. For the past several months, report after report has come in, whether it be about West moving out their home or Kardashian spending Valentine's Day alone.

The former couple are also reported to have a prenuptial agreement that allows both Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to keep the money they brought to the relationship, but that Kardashian will get their sprawling Hidden Hills home. The mansion is where Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have raised their four children and where Kardashian is allowing these awkward visits to take place. Page Six’s source said:

Despite this, she trusts him around the kids. He loves them and is seeing a lot of them.

The divorce between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may have necessitated the beginning of their co-parenting skills. Hopefully, this method works out for them and the children and becomes a bit easier as time moves on.
