The final season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians finally arrived at the point of the family deciding to end the show. After 14 years and 20 seasons, it was an emotional decision for the Kardashian-Jenners to make, but they ultimately agreed it didn’t “make sense” anymore. In the same episode, Kim Kardashian shared what husband Kanye West -- ahead of their reported divorce -- thought about the reality show ending.

Kanye West’s presence has been lacking for the most part in this final season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. We have yet to even see him on camera but, while speaking about West’s thoughts on the show’s end to her close friend, Simon Huck, Kim Kardashian simply shared:

I mean, he's like, 'Whatever makes you happy,' you know?

It’s interesting that Kim Kardashian revealed Kanye West’s apparent supportiveness for such a difficult decision. West was notoriously averse to filming Keeping Up with the Kardashians for many years. In the last season, he continued to come across as awkward and disengaged whilst filming as though he didn’t really want to be there.

Many have even speculated that Keeping Up with the Kardashians was the root cause of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s issues that led to their divorce. But in an episode a few weeks ago, the cameras hinted that their issues might’ve been tied more closely to West’s social media tirades and public behavior last year. There are only seven episodes left in this final season, so maybe we’ll see learn more about their relationship before the series finale.

As for the rest of the reality show family, the decision to end Keeping Up With the Kardashians was conflicted. Kris Jenner told the cameras that in the past, it was always an unanimous agreement to continue. Khloe Kardashian seemed to struggle the most with the idea of pulling the plug. Whereas Kourtney Kardashian, who took a break from the show in the past, was adamant that it was time and later said she had a “love-hate relationship the whole time” with the show. Kim Kardashian said in the episode:

At the end of the day, I think we all feel like we came to this conclusion for a reason, and we are gonna ride this out and close this chapter and see what is on the horizon for us next.

The Kardashian-Jenners mostly expressed sadness that they wouldn’t be surrounded by the Keeping Up With the Kardashians crew anymore, who they call their “second family.” Fans of the show likely agreed with Kim Kardashian’s friend, who said they thought the show would go on forever, with the next generation (North, True, Penelope, Chicago, and so on) taking up the mantle in later years.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians might be leaving our screens for good one day, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be gone entirely. Their next reality show is already slated for release on Hulu after the final KUWTK season, and chances are Kanye West will not be part of it.
