Brooklyn Nine-Nine Stars Got Me Pumped For The Final Season With Hilarious New Video

The final season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is almost here! While Fox initially cancelled the series after five seasons, NBC was quick to pick it up the following day. Earlier this year the network revealed that the upcoming eighth season would be the cop comedy’s final season and it would be delayed. NBC has now released a video for the final season and it’s getting fans everywhere pumped.

The video, which can be viewed below, counts off the number of seasons, heists, sex tape titles and “cools” as it goes through multiple clips through the years and makes fans very nostalgic. On top of that, various cast members like Andy Samberg, Melissa Fumero, Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, and Stephanie Beatriz reminisce their time on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and they preview the upcoming final season, which will be an epic one.

Although this isn’t the first time the cast has had to prepare for the end, this is the first they, and fans, are getting a proper ending. When it was announced Season 8 was going to be B99’s final season, the cast quickly took to social media to thank fans and their fellow costars for the previous eight years. Everyone at the show's Brooklyn’s 99th precinct has been through a lot together, on and off screen, and the video is only proof of how much the show has meant to the cast and that just because this is the last season, doesn’t mean they won’t go out without a bang.

While it’s not known exactly what storylines will be included in Season 8, the series will likely include the COVID-19 pandemic as well as last summer’s protests against police brutality. Shortly after protests first began, Terry Crews had revealed that there were already discussions on how they were going to approach what was going on in the country.

Terry Crews later said that showrunner Dan Goor threw the first four episodes of the season in the trash so they can start over. At the time, Crews didn’t know what direction the show would go in, but now from the video, it looks like the series will be mixing in the comedy while still involving heavy topics as a way to still keep Brooklyn Nine-Nine comedic while also addressing serious issues.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s seventh season ended in April 2020 and with Season 8 officially premiering on August 12, the long wait heading into the final stretch. The upcoming season was originally supposed to premiere midseason on NBC, but once the network announced it would also be the final season, the plans changed. Even though it’ll be great to finally be reunited with the 99th precinct, it will be a bittersweet season as we prepare to say our final goodbyes.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine returns for its final season on Thursday, August 12 at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
