Britney Spears has been “shedding layers” recently on her social media as she has gained more freedoms and taken more control over her day to day. This week she put up another topless post and used the platform to explain why she’s been baring it all on social media. A lot of her thoughts have to do with wanting to be comfortable with her body -- yes even the “dimple on [her] ass” -- and wanting to see herself “in a lighter way.”
The “Hold It Against Me” singer grabbed a rose and took to Instagram this week. She wrote about having to bare a lot while performing, which previously seems to have given her some performance anxiety. This time around, she says she wanted to come to terms with her body, as in the past she has occasionally been "self-conscious," particularly when she was performing at a regular rate. (Ms. Spears has been retired or semi-retired since 2018.)
To note, Britney Spears wanted to dispel any rumors she might be pregnant or had gotten a boob job in the post, but she also specifically addressed why she chose to go topless again right now, explaining that she really did want to feel “lighter.” In particular, she noted:
This isn’t the first time that clothing has been optional for the singer on social media in recent weeks. She previously celebrated taking back her Instagram with a similar post, and even Paris Hilton congratulated her with her own famous catchphrase, “That’s hot.” This time around, she says she won’t be going topless forever, but she did shout out her fanbase for their “Free Britney” jokes following her topless posts, calling them “really fucking funny.”
It's been a long few months for Britney Spears, who has actively gained more freedoms in her life, including hiring her own lawyer, taking more control over her social media and even regaining the ability to drive. All of this is part of her fight to gain more control with a conservatorship that was put into place back in 2008 after the singer had been put under a 5150 hold in a psychiatric hospital. Her father Jamie Spears recently agreed to step down from the conservator role, and we'll keep you updated as that process moves forward. In the meantime, the veteran performer has been spending her time enjoying the sunshine, as well as dancing and even a little bit of horseback riding.
