Yellowstone Season 4 Premiere Date Finally Revealed Along With Bloody New Footage, 1883 Prequel Start Date

After months and months (and months and months) of putting fans through the wringer, Paramount Network has finally revealed when Yellowstone Season 4 will arrive. And while it's obviously coming much later than the annual summer release the first three seasons shared, at least now we know we won't have to wait until Christmas. New episodes will return on Sunday, November 7, and Season 4 is kicking off with a two-episode premiere.

The premiere date was revealed in a new Yellowstone teaser that once again is stoking anticipation for the aftermath of John Dutton being ambushed, shot and left for dead on the side of the road. Things don't look too positive for his health, given how much blood there is, but at least we already know Cole Hauser's Rip shows up at some point. Though I guess we don't know if John will survive the trip to the hospital, or anything after that. But I dare say fans would have some choice words for co-creator Taylor Sheridan if we had to wait more than a year for new episodes, just to kill off Kevin Costner's patriarch in the premiere.

We still don't know a whole lot about what's coming to Season 4, since the show has had to stay quiet and secretive about nearly its entire main cast, with John, Kayce and Beth all suffering attacks, while Jefferson White's Jimmy was last seen knocked TF out after falling off of his horse again. Fans do know some of the new characters making their way into the Duttons' lives in the upcoming season, including Jacki Weaver as the CEO of Market Equities, but without anyone actually popping up in the trailer, it's hard to know what to expect.

But beyond the flagship series, Paramount also revealed the fan-favorite western's prequel spinoff 1883 — which recently cast Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott as its first stars — will debut on Sunday, December 19. So that one is clearly more of a Christmas gift. The streaming exclusive's first season will air on Paramount+, but non-subscribers will get a taste of the prequel series when the first episode airs on linear TV as part of a simulcast event with Yellowstone proper.

You'd think two Yellowstone-centric premiere dates would be enough, but Paramount also unveiled the start date for Taylor Sheridan's other new show Mayor of Kingstown, which he co-created with Hugh Dillon. Starring Jeremy Renner, Dianne Wiest and more, the drama about small-town corruption will premiere on Sunday, November 14, on Paramount+. It will also have a cross-platform release, with its first episode being simulcast on Paramount Network after a new episode of Yellowstone.

Now don't forget, the 2021 Fall TV schedule will now include Yellowstone's Season 4 premiere on Paramount Network (Sunday, November 7), Mayor of Kingstown's premiere (Sunday, November 14) and the debut of the prequel spinoff 1883 (Sunday, December 19).
