Meagan Good Lands NBC's Notorious Pilot Lead

The drama pilot Notorious over at NBC has cast the leading role; Meagan Good has taken the role as Joanna Locasto, a detective who returns undercover to the home of the wealthy family where she grew up to investigate the murder of a friend. If it goes to series it will mean the first regular series role for Good.

Deadline reports that Meagan Good, who has done plenty of film work, is on board for the drama. She’ll join previously cast Victor Garber who will play the patriarch of the Lawson family. The plot follows the return of Locasto to her childhood home in order to track down clues to the murder of socialite Vivian Lawson. In previous descriptions of the “opulent soap” I got the impression Locasto was actually a family member – which had me wondering how she could go unrecognized. The outline of the plot remains a little fuzzy to me, but it now appears she actually grew up as the housekeeper’s daughter and was good friends with Vivian Lawson, who I am assuming was growing up at the same time in the house. The project is being called an “opulent soap” in which we’ll probably see plenty of the jet-set lifestyle.

Good, who appeared in the films Eve’s Bayou and Stomp the Yard is currently working on Californication over at Showtime where she’ll be recurring throughout the season. She can also be seen in the movie Think Like a Man which hits theaters next month.
