The Prison Break Reboot Is Bringing Back Another One Of Its Stars

One could easily make the argument that FOX knows that its fans wants more than any other mainstream network. In an effort to capitalize on our collective nostalgia, the network has begun aggressively reviving their classic series from the last two decades. We’ve just seen this happen with The X-Files, and we know that the same will soon happen for 24 and Prison Break. Although Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell have already committed to the Prison Break reboot, we can now confirm that they will be joined by series favorite Sarah Wayne Callies.

We’ve just learned that actress Sarah Wayne Callies has officially signed on to reprise her role as Sara Tancredi in the upcoming revival of Prison Break on FOX. Her return will see her step into the iconic role alongside series headliners Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller, who have kept longtime Prison Break fans happy by delightfully chewing the scenery on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Callies is a longtime fan favorite member of the cast; her role on Prison Break was so beloved that the network even went so far as to retcon her death in an attempt to keep her around during the initial run of the series. Now it seems that decision has definitely paid off.

In terms of narrative, the revival will logically pick up years after we last saw the Prison Break characters. Sara Tancredi has moved on with her life, raising her and Michael Scofield’s (Wentworth Miller) baby with her new husband. However, when new information comes forward indicating that Michael may actually be alive, and she sets out on a mission with Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) to discover the truth and rescue Michael.

Sarah Wayne Callies has kept herself busy in the years since Prison Break came to an end. Following her role as Sara Tancredi on the hit FOX series, she would go on to portray Lori Grimes on The Walking Dead – a role fans either loved or absolutely hated at times. More recently she has taken on a starring role in the new USA series Colony alongside former Lost star Josh Holloway.

If you’re a fan of Colony don’t worry about seeing less of Sarah Wayne Callie on the series anytime soon. Prior to the official confirmation of her return for the Prison Break revival, Callies spoke out about the likelihood of it happening and asserted that the folks at USA have been extremely cooperative with regards to accommodating her schedule.

We will keep you up to date on all of the latest and greatest Prison Break news as it becomes available to us. The series revival is currently set to premiere during the 2016-2017 season on FOX. Stay tuned for more details!
