Taye Diggs And Kathleen Robertson Team Up For TNT's Murder In The First

Steven Bochco's TNT drama pilot has secured itself a pair of talented actors, not to mention two familiar and very pretty faces for its leads. Kathleen Robertson and Taye Diggs have signed on to star in Murder in the First, a drama from the NYPD Blue co-creator, in the works at TNT. The cable network has done well for itself with shows featuring likable pairs, with Rizzoli & Isles and Franklin & Bash among their current original programming slate. Should things go well for Bochco's project, Diggs and Robertson may be the next great small scree pairing at the network.

Murder in the First is set in San Francisco and stars Diggs and Robertson as SFPD homicide detectives Terry Seagrave and Hildy Mulligan respectively. The two take on a case that turns out to be "more like a maze," though Deadline doesn't elaborate on the plot beyond that. But it sounds like this one will be a murder mystery, which should likely appeal to viewers who love a good whodunnit story.

Diggs played a starring role in ABC's Grey's Anatomy spinoff series Private Practice, but I'll probably always associate him best with his role as Benny in Rent, a character he reprised for the 2005 feature adaptation of Jonathan Larson's beloved 90s musical. Speaking of the 90s, while Kathleen Robertson's recent credits include playing Kitty O'Neill in Starz' political drama Boss, many of us remember her fondly for playing the initially-troublesome but later more stable Clare Arnold in Beverly Hills, 90210. I think Robertson and Diggs would make a great crime-solving pair on TV, so hopefully things work out for Murder in the First.
