Trophy Wife Trailer Shows Malin Akerman As The New Stepmom
The cast alone is reason enough to look forward to Trophy Wife, but the trailer does a great job of selling the comedy, which stars Malin Akerman as the young bride to Bradley Whitford's Pete, who's now on his third marriage. The story centers on Akerman's Kate and her attempts to adjust to the responsibilities of being a mother to her husband's kids, one of whom is plyed by the hilarious kid from Super 8 (Ryan Scott Lee). To make matters more challenging for Kate, Marcia Gay Harden's Diana - one of the ex-wives - is an intense, over-achieving doctor with a chip on her shoulder.
Here's ABC's description for the series, which is set to air between fellow newcomer family-focused comedy The Goldbergs and lottery drama Lucky 7 on Tuesday nights.
I've been a fan of Malin Akerman since The Comeback, so I'm especially excited to see how she does in her return to television. Based on the trailer - not to mention the title - she's at the center of this series, which will hopefully benefit from airing in the hour that follows Joss Whedon's new series. There's also the great Bradley Whitford and Marcia Gay Harden to look forward to. Trophy Wife has a lot going for it out of the gate, and there were some stand-out funny moments in the trailer. Hopefully the series delivers.
ABC has Trophy Wife scheduled to air Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET. Check out the full ABC Fall 2013 schedule here.
