What To Expect From Jessica Jones Season 2

There has been some news regarding Marvel’s Netflix TV front over the last several months, including the news that the Punisher will, in fact, be getting his own series. Regardless, news related to Jessica Jones Season 2 has been not so forthcoming. This week, though, series lead Krysten Ritter did answer some questions about the upcoming second season of Jessica Jones, giving us a better understanding of what to expect, and when.

Probably the single most important thing Krysten Ritten mentioned in this interview is that she has a good idea of when both The Defenders and Jessica Jones will be filming, telling Digital Spy that she is currently training for both roles. She also mentions that both will film back-to-back for premieres, although we may not get those episodes for some time.

They'll be back-to-back. I don't know if they'll overlap a little bit.

This past year, Netflix offered one Marvel series in the fall and another again in the spring, so we may be able to expect this timeline for the 2016-2017 TV season. Luke Cage is obviously up first, and will hit the schedule in September. Then, Iron Fist is expected to premiere, so that might fill out Marvel’s Netflix lineup for next season. In addition, while Daredevil Season 3 is still a giant question mark, Netflix has also revealed a Punisher series will happen… eventually. With no timestamp on that, it would make sense for The Defenders and Jessica Jones Season 2 to come first. I really, really wish Marvel would announce the Netflix premiere dates years in advance, just like the company's movies do.

The other thing that Krysten Ritter teased is that she is excited for Jessica Jones to include new characters in the Marvel universe during Season 2.

Kilgrave was her reason for getting up every morning. Saving people gave her purpose. I wonder how emotionally taxed she's going to be now. That opens a lot of doors as to who will come out and play. We all live in the same universe, so there are endless possibilities.

That tease makes it seem like there’s potential for some wild Marvel crossovers during Jessica Jones Season 2. What’s likely is that we’ll continue to see some crossover between Marvel’s Netflix shows, with Claire Temple as a point connecting many of the shows. But a girl can dream about broader team-ups.

We’re still a long way out from getting new Jessica Jones episodes, but we’ll let you know as soon as we know when they are coming. If you are interested in the upcoming season of the series, you can check out what we know. In addition, all the Netflix premiere dates that have been revealed can be viewed, here.
