Whoopi Goldberg Will Return To Glee For Season 4

One of last year’s big guest stars has signed on to return for the upcoming fourth season of Glee, while two Glee Project winners have also worked out deals to return. Whoopi Goldberg will reprise her role as Carmen Thibodeaux in the new season, a role that was vital to the outcome of Season 3. The new season will also see the return of both Samuel Larson and Alex Newell of The Glee Project.

Whoopi Goldberg’s multi-episode appearance as the Dean of the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts towards the end of last season determined the fate of two Glee stars, both of whom auditioned for the school. In the end, Thibodeaux admitted Rachel (Lea Michele) and passed on Kurt (Chris Colfer). With the new season expected to jump back and forth between New York and Ohio, Goldberg will show up again as the Dean in a recurring role, according to THR. No doubt we’ll see her as the show follows Rachel’s life beyond high school in a prestigious NYC drama school.

Pretty much the last of Season 3’s cast to sign on for a return are Samuel Larson and Alex Newell, the winners of the first run of The Glee Project. Both won roles on the show for Season 3 in the competition series. They will be joined by another Glee Project face, Blake Jenner, who won the second season. The rest of the cast have already signed on in various capacities, with some of the graduating class of last season expected to appear in less regular roles.

Glee premieres September 13th on Fox.
