Dimension Signs West Memphis Three

By Lexi Feinberg: 2006-05-08 00:00:00
Dimension Signs West Memphis Three In 1993, three teens from Arkansas were convicted for the murder of 3 eight-year-old boys. Nicknamed the ‘West Memphis Three’, their case has been an ongoing cause of controversy, with many people believing in their innocence. And rightfully so: they were charged with being in a satanic cult, because they read Stephen King novels and head-banged to Metallica albums. There were several investigation mishaps, problematic confessions, and zero physical evidence linked to them.

A book called “The Devil’s Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three”, written by Mara Leveritt, is being adapted into a movie by Dimension Pictures. According to Variety, Scott Derrickson and Paul Harris Boardman (Exorcism of Emily Rose) will write the screenplay, with Derrickson also set to direct.

The subject matter has been turned into an HBO documentary series, but a big-screen venture will reach a wider audience. The boys are still in jail, with one of them on death row. For more information on their sketchy case, click here.
