Gretchen Mol Gets Tenure

By Ed Perkis: 2008-04-05 23:43:05
Gretchen Mol Gets Tenure It was about 10 years ago that Vanity Fair magazine named Gretchen Mol the “It Girl” of the moment. I don’t really know what that means, but based on Mol’s career since then, it means someone who never really lives up to her Vanity Fair title. Despite working fairly regularly since then, she hasn’t exactly set the world on fire with her movies.

Hope does spring eternal, though, and Mol isn’t going down without a fight. Variety reports that she has joined the cast of the comedy, Tenure. As we noted last month, Luke Wilson is already on board playing a professor who must compete for tenure against a hot-shot female colleague. Mol will be playing the female, since she is one.

The movie was written by Mike Million who will also make his feature directing debut. Filming begins next week, so it’s good that Mol came on board, since starting without her would probably be a little tough. Mol’s work in 3:10 to Yuma and The Notorious Bettie Page show she’s more than a pretty face and Wilson is a charmer. This one may have something going on. I guess we’ll see in 2009.
