The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D Wins Points For Its Awesome Tagline

The first poster for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D is far from a masterpiece. It has a lot of negative space, and contains little more than a bloody chainsaw being held by a random dude (there' no real indication that what we're looking at is actually Leatherface). On most days I would criticize a one-sheet like this for its complete lack of creativity and somehow connect that idea to the fact that this is the second Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot in the last 10 years, but I can't do that today. Why not? Because the tagline is absolutely brilliant.

Yes, I realize that it's kind of a silly pun, but it's the kind of joke that you just have to stand up and applaud for. The franchise, begun by Tobe Hooper all the way back in 1974, isn't exactly known for its humor, but this is just a nice clever bit. As always I doubt the advertising artwork reflects the movie in any real way, but this is a nice bit of creativity.

Directed by John Luessenhop, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D brings the story back all the way to Hooper's original film, beginning right where the original ended. The movie stars Alexandra Daddario, Trey Songz, Tania Raymonde, Karem Malicki-Sanchez, Shaun Sipos, and Thom Barry. Just because this poster has been released, however, don't expect this movie in theaters any time soon: it's set to hit theaters on October 5, 2012.
