It's been a long time coming. A while back we teased you with what our own JT accurately described as "vaseline covered footage" of the Comic Con trailer for Spider-Man 3 featuring the appearance of Eddie Brock and a sneaky look at Venom. Unfortunately though, said footage has since been pulled and wasn't worth watching anyway.
But now from Yodas News, through Ain't It Cool News, images have surfaced of a what seems to be a prototype for a collectible character design for Venom. The images can be found on Yoda's News or in smaller versions below. I'm bloody stoked!
The design shows a number of features which just make me whimper in excitement, namely the mouth design and, though I'm probably sticking my neck out here, I love how similar the character looks to Spider-Man. It really dumps us in that Ying/Yang territory and adds the dynamic of Spider-Man having a hand in creating his own worst enemy. Some people may, and some people definitely will say, that the veiny webbed suit design looks nothing like the comic book character we know. They'd be right, and they'd completely miss the point.
If this is the final design there's bound to be those who love it and those who hate it, but to me this is a fantastic representation of the character for the big screen. Looks like the closest thing you can get to Spidey Vs. Spidey. Bring it on!
